Accuracy first, then comes speed

It's true. One of the most challenging aspects of learning to play is to resist the temptation to try too play fast, too soon. Of course it is, it's exciting!

But all good musicians will tell you the same thing. It is more important to play within your ability and to strive to execute everyday you play cleanly and with control. The more work you do, the more 'ability' you will have to play within.

The ultimate goal is to play what the music requires, so unless your goal is to solo all of the time (which would bore everyone), play within the music and play within yourself.
Get with a teacher who can help guide you along the correct path until you have learned all of the right practice and playing habits.

Work hard and you can achieve great things.

Groove on!
