Hello, and thanks for visiting the site.
I have been playing and teaching the drums professionally since 1986. I have decided to set up a music school which caters specifically for students who wish to learn how to play the drum kit to suit the style that they want to pursue. I believe that it is important to help students discover their true musical personality and to guide them in the right direction - depending on what it is they really want to do and achieve.
As an experienced musician/educator I can show you how to incorporate an appropriate level of practice, technical study and theory into your practice routine, and I will make sure that your course of study contains a lot of playing and focus on the specific aspects of drumming which apply to the style that interests you most.
Whether you wish to study rock, jazz, retro or whatever, there are common elements to all styles of music and elements which are unique to each style (or more contextually important in order to develop a particular way of playing).
Many musicians will tell you that they started out interested in one particular area, but as their knowledge and interests developed they began to want to incorporate other influences/styles in order to build their own musical identity. I believe that this is a natural part of the process in developing any type of artistic work or endeavor.
My approach is to assess your level of ability, interests and goals. Then we plan a course which logically enables you to build the skills and knowledge which will help you progress in the direction that you want to go. This can be monitored, assessed and modified - if required - as you go through your journey.
